lyrics

They said your ships already sailed away
No time to breathe
Don't listen to what they say
The pain doesn't go away

I don't like it when they say
You're stuck in your roots
And never leave this past
For somebody new
And when they say you'll never make it in time
You'll show the world that you can make it
You made it

I know the future isn't set in stone
Just let me see
Don't tell me what I want to hear
Cause the truth is I'm better then you

I don't like it when they say
You're stuck in your roots
And never leave this past
For somebody new
And when they say you'll never make it in time
You'll show the world that you can make it
You made it

I was told I couldn't make a living as a musician
I was told I couldn't live an adventurous life
I was told I wasn't going to live past the age of twelve
I was told that I would never find love
I was told I could never get sober
I was told I would never get into college
Oh you made us proud

I don't like it when they say
You're stuck in your roots
And never leave this past
For somebody new
And when they say you'll never make it in time
You'll show the world that you can make it
You made it
